South American Odyssey
My "South American Odyssey" is a GD (guaranteed departure) so yay and whoppeee. It has been a bit tricky waiting for the GD - mostly for organising flights to and from South America to coincide with the dates of the tour - but now all is confirmed and I am doing the vaccination thing. This entails a weekly visit to the travel doctor for a series of jabs - however not nearly as bad as I imagined. A little less than three weeks to
go now. The tour begins in Rio and ends in Lima and I have a couple of extra days at either end. My trip follows the black arrows and then the red extension to Peru. As I have a muddy, mossie infested river at the bottom of my garden the Amazon River holds no particular appeal. As for Easter Island - hmmm, could be interesting but not at the top of my "must see" places. This tour visits everywhere I particularly want to see and there is also a side trip to Uruguay as well. We will be at each place for 3 -4 days with a good amount of free time, optional excursions etc so shouldn't be too rushed.
Departure date is 15 April, arriving in Rio on the same evening - courtesy of the International Date Line of course - via Sydney and Santiago. Home from Lima, also via Santiago and Sydney on 8 May, arriving in Brisbane on 9 May.
Looking forward to this trip heaps and hope I have some groovy travelling companions!
